Ursula J. Brenner is a graduate of Cincinnati’s Edgecliff College where he studied drawing and art, graduating in 1978 with a BA in Drawing and Painting. She had always had a deep love of art since her childhood, be it fine art or anything that had artistic flare to it. She is a contemporary painter who concentrates on cityscapes, landscapes, and abstracts. Inspired by her love of color and texture, Ursula tries to paint what she would also put in her own home. She was influenced by Albert Handell Susan, Sarback, Wolf Kahn, and Doug Dawson. She was also influenced by old world architecture, museums, and music. Ursula employs what’s known as a ‘notan’ study. This is a method of examining darks and lights developed and used by the Japanese. She focuses on the fundamental nature of a scene such as the shapes, values and colors. She believes that there’s so much beauty around us if we could only stop and look. Her work reflects a wide range of moods, from playful and light to mysterious and deep. She’s is keen to detail and will always pick what many people can easily ignore. She’s also open to learn new styles and techniques. That’s why she’s a regular visitor of art museums and shows. As she creates art, Ursula experiences a spiritual connection, something she wants her viewers to experience as well. Her art makes an unambiguous statement, a strong, bold statement. She creates a diverse array of contemporary abstracts and landscapes in acrylics and encaustics. She produces art in a variety of finishing options including ready to hang framed Ursula J. Brenner art.
