Dean Bradshaw (Born 1953) was born in Santa Monica, California. He won a scholarship to study at the Art Center in Los Angeles, but chose UCLA instead because he wanted to take the medical school route. After going through school, he worked for a famous furniture maker in Beverly Hills for some time and then, in 1978, he decided to move to Utah, where he began painting portraiture and making artistic handmade furniture for prominent families from 1978 to 1981. In 1980, he started showing his paintings in Park City galleries, and in the same year he won a Silver Medal for a plein air landscape at the Springville National Salon. After developing his furniture business, Bradshaw decided to return to full-time painting. From an early age, he fell in love with nature. He spent every moment he could to observe the intricacies of nature’s form and light. His palette knife landscapes are mesmerizing. Painting directly from nature means the world to him. It opens up new dimensions in the way he sees color and light and deepens his appreciation for life and nature as a whole. Bradshaw lives in the mountains of northern Utah where he is surrounded by some of the most fabulous subject matter for which any artist could hope for. He uses both the brush and the palette knife to render this visual wonderland into gripping landscapes. His pieces of art are very attractive, especially the framed Dean Bradshaw art which today hang on the walls on some of the most prestigious buildings in the world. Bradshaw uses recognizable shapes to achieve abstract quality.
