As long as Connie Boswell can remember, art has always been an important part of her life. At the age of 3 years, she was drawing “milk birds” on every scrap of paper she could lay her hands on. She knew from an early age that she would become an artist. Her dreams have been fulfilled and today she’s a professional artist. Connie works exclusively in acrylics with a painting knife. Her works have been widely published and are included in private and corporate collections worldwide. She earned her art degree from Central Missouri State University. The artist’s technique is to pick several colors and then mix them until they look like marbles. She then lays them down in a series of strokes that give the impression of realism from a distance, but that are actually an abstract mosaic. Initially she worked in oils but later fell out with them due to their long drying time. Her career with acrylics and painting knife began in 1975 on one beautiful fall day. Connie and her mother had gone to her sister’s farm to gather walnuts. She took pencils and a newsprint pad just in case she would spot a potential painting. She got the right scene, made a sketch and later decided to work on it when she was back at home. She realized that oil could not bring the scene out as she required. She kept the painting unfinished. After some days, she decided to finish it using acrylics, and the result was marvelous. Since then acrylics and painting knife have been her mediums of choice. Connie has been represented by the Wright Gallery since 1989. Framed Connie Boswell art are in great demand today.
