Corey Barksdale was born and brought up in Nashville, Tennessee. He began painting as soon as she could hold a brush because he was born in a family of artists. Barksdale was exposed to color and form at an early age by his quilt artist grandmother, and his mother who was gifted with an intuitive feeling for design and detail which she expressed in all aspects of her daily life. Barksdale earned his BFA Degree at the prestigious Atlanta College of Art in 1994. He has several pieces of artwork to his name and has widely sold his artistic works to a number of individuals and companies. His fine art subject matter ranges from non-objective abstracts to human figures. In the recent past he has concentrated his talents on themes that portray the strength and love that exists within the African American community. There’s high demand for his creative pieces, that’s why several galleries stock ready to mount framed Corey Barksdale art. Other galleries also avail them in a variety of other finishing options. Currently, his paintings grace the covers of magazines, CD covers, posters, and books. He was strongly influenced by the graphic forms and bold colors unique to Nashville where he spent her youth. Among his convictions is to give back to his community through art education. Barksdale attended the Artist Xplosion Art Exhibition and the Atlanta Artist Exhibition, and many others. Barksdale appreciates the African/American artistic heritage. This appreciation was instilled in him by the African-American masters such as William Tolliver, Romere Bearden, John Biggers, and Aaron Douglas.
