Thomas Barbèy started drawing seriously at the age of 13, using gouaches and black “encre de Chine” for color. He grew up in Geneva, Switzerland where he was influenced by great artists such as H.R. Giger, Roger Dean, and Philippe Druillet. Loving art from such a young age gave him the urge to create. His pieces of art are simple in outline, well-balanced in composition, and profound in tonalities. Barbèy lived in Geneva for 17 years where he was designing posters for musical bands, he then moved to move to Italy, where he worked as a fashion photographer, lyricist, and recording artist for 15 years. He has attended many art exhibitions to help improve his work. His work has been collected and exhibited internationally. They can be found in Cape Cod Museum of Art, Cape Cod, MA, as permanent Collection in Madden Museum, Denver CO. New Britain, CT American Museum in Britain, Bath, UK, and New Britain Museum of American Art. Those who have collected framed Thomas Barbèy art have often done so because of the quality of stillness and peace in his art. They have often commented on these attributes. All his arts display simplicity of application, a delicacy of touch, and a wonderful understanding of color. His work is very characteristic and has a specific style. He only works with Black-and-White, including Sepia toning at times. Some of his private collectors include Author David Baldacci, Christopher Hyland, Actor James Spader, Rob Goldstein, Trump Family, Actress Rebecca DeMornay, and many others.
