Vintage Mod Art

As the name implies, Vintage Mod is a style of decor that mixes the old with the new. The look can be created by adding vintage accent pieces such as artwork and accessories in a room that has modern furnishings and style. Conversely, adding modern accents to a more traditional room would also work.

The Vintage Mod look has a lot of clean lines combined with diverse materials such as metals, brick, wood, plastic and leather. It is a hybrid of styles that includes the simple and uncluttered look of Scandinavian, the warmth of Rustic and a a little bit of Mid-Century Modern can even be thrown in to create an eclectic look. Neutral colors such as creams, yellows, whites and beiges are abundant in a Vintage Mod decor as are brown, black and gray.

Living Room

It does not take a lot of effort to incorporate the Vintage Mod style in a room. One of the quickest and most affordable ways to achieve this look is through artwork. A modern living room can easily be transformed into a Vintage Mod style by adding a large piece of artwork, such as a framed vintage world map, over the couch. A series of modern geometric framed art pieces added to a contemporary room with leather couches, rustic wooden coffee table and a Persian rug also creates the Vintage Mod look.

If you are more adventurous and really want to make a statement, you can also redesign the entire room to create a stylish space that screams Vintage Mod. Wide plank farmhouse wood floors can be painted white and a series of metal pendant lights can be hung from above in an interesting wire pattern design. Furnish the room with a retro style couch, mid-century coffee table and modern black rug. Finally decorate with unusual pieces such as a vintage suitcase, framed art and an old refurbished step ladder to create a space that encompasses all that is Vintage Mod.

Nook

Another simple way to introduce Vintage Mod into your home is through small accent pieces in a corner or nook of a room. Create a unique storage unit by stacking old repurposed wooden crates against a black wall. Add a modern side table and a pair of framed vintage bird prints to complete the look.

In an ultra-modern kitchen with granite countertops, white subway tile backsplash and flat faced cabinets, add a couple of natural wood open shelves decorated with stainless steel containers and hang framed prints of vintage silverware to achieve the look and feel of Vintage Mod.

Create a study nook in front of an old brick wall by adding modern pendant lights in black, a Scandinavian style desk with an old-fashioned dial telephone and finish off the space by adding a modern framed abstract print of circles.
