Framed Medieval Artwork
Medieval art covers a large timeframe, and it has a scope of about 1000 years in Europe, and a little less in Middle East and North Africa. Medieval art can be classified in a few different styles that were differentiated through time.
Some of more known styles include: Early Christian art, Byzantine art, Romanesque art and Gothic art. Medieval art in Europe was created from the artistic tradition of the Roman Empire and iconographic styles of the Christian church.
The art itself was presented on different items, like glass, metalwork, sculptures, mosaics, wall paintings and tapestry. Valuable materials were often used on medieval art and it was presented in many different forms. Those forms were made to last a long time, so the various art forms gained a historic note through time.
One of the subparts of medieval art is the Byzantine art, a style that came from large workshops, and was seen as the perfect example of style and technique. Its style was conservative and had cultural and religious elements, while upholding a part of the look of Greek realism. A lot of icons that were painted on wood were created and destroyed in the period of Byzantine art.
There are a lot of religious themes, representations of knights and different symbols related to medieval times in Europe. Also, stained glass depictions and black and white sketches were an important part of the art in that time. If you want to make your living space have a better feel of the old times and history, framed medieval art is a great type of decoration for your home.
